The opening moments of Edith + Eddie lead us to believe we are entering a story about the nature of love shared between newly-weds Edith, age 96, and Eddie, age 95. Videographer Laura Checkoway was attracted by the growing internet attention received by “America’s oldest interracial newly-weds.” Edith is black; Eddie is white. Off-film, she explains that her main motive for making the film was to learn “what love would be like at that age.” This is exactly what the video displays, though not in a way she would have predicted. Some serious life-changing surprises lie ahead.
