Dementia Care For America’s Heroes – Part 1 (Overview)

This DVD provides evidence-based information with an interactive, upbeat style that connects with professionals and family caregivers dealing with the everyday challenges of caring for veterans living with dementia.  It gives a thorough explanation of the various types of dementia, the effects on memory and language, and the importance of adjusting care and body language to meet the person’s right-now need.  This training DVD is designed to enhance the caregiver’s understanding of dementia, the common behaviors associated with cognitive loss, and effective “best practices” interventions when working with veterans.  Caregivers will learn immediate hands-on skills to improve interactions and positive outcomes with veterans, as well as, reduce their own risk of on-the-job or at-home injuries.  Chaptered for easy access to a specific topic.  Presented by award-winning dementia care specialist Heather McKay.
